about

About this song:
True story... Written by Miguel's father Bob Innes and Darrell Statler in 1974. This is a straight forward country tribute to the great poet in jeans, Willie Nelson! The Willie's rap biography was penned by Igor on the plane ride to the Nashville recording session. It brings the song current and adds contrast, history, & levity. Days prior to the Nashville studio session, Mike discovered that Igor & Willie share the same birthday and this fun fact was added to his rap lyrics. The intro is actually a satirical country line dance track fading into the song.

Across multiple generations, we are still Drinkin', Smokin' Cryin' singing Wilie's Songs!

lyrics

Lyrics:
It’s too late, to make that bar room…
It’s too early for the sun.
And the bed of mine is way too big, to lie upon alone.
I got a stack of Willie’s records…
They’re playin’ all night long.

I’m Drinkin’, Smokin’, Cryin’… Singing Willie’s Songs.

When Willie sings his songs to me…
They make me feel so real!
In Willie’s words, In Wille’s ways…
He knows just how I feel.
I’ve been trying to find what’s left that’s right…
In a world that’s all gone wrong!

I’m Drinkin’, Smokin’, Cryin’… Singing Willie’s Songs!
I’m Drinkin’, Smokin’, Cryin’… Singing Willie’s Songs!

Awe snap!
Where you at Willy? Never met a cowboy that could roll a Philly.
I'm Talking bout the blunt, a petty little crime,
You were not the greatest but you're always on my mind…

We're like twinsies, we got the same birfday, go to bed early,
both do judo, but you wear a bandanna and look a little girly.

It's a shame that the Feds seized your assets,
You could been a baller but you didn't pay your taxes,
Imma do a BitTa' math on this napkin,
Figure out how you got so distracted.

I mean 32 mil that's a lotta dough,
You had 31 hits certifie' gold
Over a hundred country songs on the radio,
Anna Really big hit that you wrote with Julio

To all the girls I've loved before…
